Subject: Fun night!
Combining some of my favorite musicians is always a fun time. This show is mostly improv, hence the absence of titles. It went till after 3:00am if I recall correctly. Three sets! Libitz on percussion for the whole show was pretty impressive, her hands must have been beat!

The recording was kind of a simple multitrack. Minimally miced, the drumkits only had one overhead each and kick drum mics. The mix was done in haste. I wasn't too happy with the sound of the raw tracks but obviously it was worth making a quick mix to let people hear. I mixed the whole thing in a couple sittings. You'll hear Andrew's drumkit on the left channel and Joe's on the right, Grateful Dead style mix! My first time with two drumkits but like I said, only four mics on em. Percussion had a single sm57 she is kept centrered in the mix. Marco played acoustic piano all night, it was miced with 2 schoeps but had tons of bleed from the bass making it hard to get the sound I would like. The bass recording is only from the d/i box. I hung a pair of room mics from the ceiling, I think I used Earthworks TC30K omni's, but the details are hazy. I do remember not getting home until sunrise though!

Hope it's enjoyed there are lots of good jams and themes on here. Post your thoughts!

Subject: crazy improv show
great great show. at some point, the guys from the knit came down and told marco that they could play til 3am, much to the delight of everyone in attendance. definitely pick this one up if you want to see what a group of talented guys can do with almost no material, shitloads of ability, and a sweet little tap room that just won't kick anyone out.

Subject: interesting
very cool show. Different style and definetly lots of improv. Very intersting show that sounds great and is more than worth picking up for any duo fan.
